According to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Program, lighting consumes 25 to 40 percent of the energy used in commercial buildings. This has increased the demand for “more energy-efficient lighting selections,” according to Electrical Contractor, the national magazine serving the electrical contracting industry. “Lighting within buildings accounts for 23 percent of national electrical consumption.”
